Today Kate and I went over to WRAL to meet with Rick Smith, the editor of Local Tech Wire. I cannot believe that I have been e-mailing and talking to Rick for four years and have never met him. It was just wonderful to spend time with him and learn more about what is happening in tech here in the Triangle.
I had a great meeting and lunch with Cindy Anderson, CEO and managing partner of CD Anderson. She is just so darn smart, and every time I am with her, I learn something.
This afternoon I had some client meetings, and we are still interviewing for another writer and account executive. Tonight I have drinks scheduled with Kim Nilsen, formerly special publications editor at Triangle Business Journal who is now editor of the AICPA magazine. I am looking forward to catching up with her and hearing all of her good news. She is getting married soon, and I am excited for her.
Let me give you the can cooler update. If you read the blog yesterday, you learned that we just had to have this can cooler shaped like a little refrigerator by ordering $100 worth of office supplies from Office Depot. It became everybody’s mission in the office to own this can cooler. So, guess where it is today? It is stuck underneath the counter, back where all the dead items go, because nobody really does want this can cooler. Turns out that you have to unplug it overnight – some “refrigerator,” huh? It makes the Easy Bake Oven look like Windows 2.0.
But the best part is that I am thinking to myself, “I will give it as a birthday gift for somebody.” But noooooooo! I cannot do that, because Beth put the box at the back door, and it is gone, and she has a thousand excuses for what happened to the box. So …. we have another useless item at MMI. We give out awards every week at the team meeting – it may turn up Friday as a prize.
