Today With Patty – May 9, 2007

I had drinks last night with a friend of mine, Kim Nilsen, who is a new senior editor at AICPA magazine. It was great to catch up with her and hear all of her news.

Today I am in the office running around, trying to figure out who keeps eating my Lean Cuisines and Stouffers. Ryal has announced that it is not him, not because it would be wrong to eat my Lean Cuisines, but rather that he does not like Lean Cuisines. Everybody else insists they do not eat them either (sigh).

Jill had the pleasure of taking me for my walk today, and fortunately she made me go early in the morning, before the bad humidity hit. I was just coming back from a meeting a few minutes ago, and it was just like breathing water out there. What is it with this weather? We have had summer and winter all in one week.

I cannot believe that my trip to Scotland is just a week and a half away. I have done nothing to get ready for this trip. I have not even thought about what I am taking, and I have got to get my house together, because the old crones – my mother and Aunt Viv – are coming on Monday, and I am not sure how receptive they are going to be when they learn that I have turned my bonus room into a walk-in closet. I have my niece Jack (Jacqueline) coming to visit at the end of June, and I just learned yesterday that John’s parents, his sister and her husband are coming too, and they are targeting the same week as Jake is here. I just do not see me handling a 12-year-old and in-laws all at the same time. I just cannot picture my mother-in-law going to Goofy Golf. I will keep you posted.
