I went all the way to Charlotte yesterday to look at a new car. It was everything I wanted except the price was 25% higher than what I wanted to pay. So essentially I spent the entire day in the car, but I did get to spend it with John, so that partwas good.
I have had meetings all day. One good one was with the developers of the former Square D manufacturing facility in Knightdale, which is being renamed Eastpoint. This is an exciting project, and I am really looking forward to working with them. We have lots of stuff planned – so stay tuned.
This afternoon I had a great meeting at Tripps Restaurant in south Raleigh with a client and an editor. Allison and I realized on the drive back to the office that we had inadvertently “dined and dashed. What happened was, we all ordered our ice teas or sodas, had our meeting, did all what was needed to do, agreed upon what we would do, and left. Then on I-40, I realized, “Whoops! We left without paying!” Not just me – but the client and the editor too! Next time I am eating there, I will have to drop off 10 bucks and fess up. Now I am a felon. There is probably an APB out for me.
Gas is up a little in price, now that the election is over (hmmm ….). I bought gas for $2.13 a gallon at the BP station in south Raleigh. Kipp says the best deal now is $2.07 per gallon at Costco. But I would not stand in line to get gas, especially when I drive all the way to Charlotte to look at a car that gets 10 miles per gallon.
Tonight is the WakeMed Society of 1961 Appreciation Gala. The required dress is suits. Thank God I asked, because John would have been in a tux and would have killed me for making up dress up like that when he did not have to do so. Plus, we would have looked like dorks. Actually, I was told the dress is “business cocktail.” I do not what “business cocktail” is – guess I will figure it out at 5:30 when I go home to change.
Friday night I saw The Music Man, and it was fabulous. I enjoyed it – it really was a great production. I think we are going to go ahead and get season tickets to the North Carolina Theatre.
