Today With Patty – Nov. 7, 2006

What an icky, icky day. It is cold and dreary and the kind of day where I wish I was home, curled up in front of a fire, with the smell of baking bread wafting through the house, reading a good book. But no, I am at the office, fighting with the rest of the staff over the thermostat. I checked the thermostat recently, and it was at 79 degrees Fahrenheit. Now seriously, a woman with hot flashes cannot face a thermostat at 79 degrees. I have no control over anything.

I called my mother yesterday to wish her a happy birthday, which was a complete event. I had sent her flowers for her birthday and signed the card “Your Favorite.” There was much discussion as to which of her nine children sent the flowers. As in “Not funny, Mom.”

We had lunch in the office today because it was that kind of a day. We actually had a “lunch and learn” session, with food from Jack Astor’s Bar and Grill. We had all our favorites – chicken fingers, bruschetta, loaded potatoes – and Kipp gave us a presentation of our new media release format. It is complicated, and will require a lot of extra work, but it will do great things for our clients.

I am anxiously awaiting the election results, and I have a big evening planned. I am a complete political junkie, so I will be sitting at home watching it all intently. The rest of the office (well, most of them except Kipp of course) is going to The Music Man at the North Carolina Theatre tonight, since I am a good boss treating them to it. Am I not the best boss in the whole world? I will be going on Friday, since I received tickets for that night’s performance as a gift.
