I’ve had lots of meetings today, and I’ve just been kind of running from thing to thing, but isn’t that always the case with me? Today I’m going to teach Ryal how to grocery shop. That’s right, our resident metrosexual really acts like a guy when going to the supermarket, so I have to show him how to do it properly as his “other mother” – although I can’t match his real mom Nancy Curtis in performing the full-time job with him. I’m teaching him how to read newspaper fliers and how to buy food, because God knows I’m not paying him enough to waste his money at the store.
I had a voice from the past contact me – Chuck Crance and his wife Janet, friends of more than 30 years. Chuck and I have had a “pseudo affair” for the last three decades. Of course, the office did not quite get that when he left me a message singing Tonight’s the Night. He’s coming to Raleigh from Phoenix to visit, and a friend of ours we haven’t seen in 25 years lives in Winston-Salem and will come down too. We’re going to all get together, and I can’t wait.
Tonight I’m speaking at a meeting of the Public Relations Student Society of America at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I’m on some panel. I know nothing about this (just learned about it after getting back from vacation Sunday), and I figure I’ll have to bluff my way through it. I’ll let you know tomorrow how things go from there.
