Today With Patty – Oct. 12, 2006

We have the new coffee system in the office courtesy of our newest client Gray and Creech. That means I am now the coolest boss in the world. And Bosses Day is next Monday, so I know my crack staff has come up with a very special way to celebrate it with me. I should say that Gray and Creech has lost any and all profit on our account because of the difficulties we presented in setting up the system in our office. Lee, the vice president of operation, was out here and had to weld our crappy pipes together to get it all set up. But we’re very excited that we now have hot and cold water dispensers and designer yuppie coffee courtesy of Gray and Creech.

I spoke at a luncheon today at Brier Creek Country Club for the United Professional Sales Associates. I talked about ethics. It may not seem like a PR person would ever think about ethics, but in fact ethics are our business. I gave them these words of wisdom: “If you don’t want to see it on the front page of the newspaper, don’t do it.” I also noted that Raleigh is essentially a cowtown where everybody knows everybody, and if you’re naughty or nice, everybody will find out, so you better choose to act right.

I’m heading to Greensboro tonight for the opening of the Triad Women Presidents’ Organization chapter. I’m going with a bunch of girls and Diane Kuehn, president and CEO of VisionPoint Marketing is driving us. Should be a fun time.
