This morning I assisted Allison with the 9/11 fifth anniversary commemoration at the Exploris Museum. What a great event it was. Lots of media coverage. I’m so proud of Allison. She did a great job on this project.
Michelle and I were in New York City on Friday, trying to catch an earlier flight home (we were set for the 5 p.m. one), as Michelle wanted to attend an out-of-town wedding and I wanted to make a Girls Night Out dinner. I’m an American Airlines Platinum Club member, so I knew I’d be able to fly on standby, but some agent at American Airlines decided that Michelle and I flying together didn’t count. Now, Michelle is truly afraid to fly. Those who know me know if I have someone who’s sort of afraid to fly, I’ll torment him or her with every noise and creak of the plane. Not so with Michelle. There were only a couple of standby seats – I knew I could get onboard easily but not Michelle, and I couldn’t let her fly alone. What would we do?
We came up with a whopper. I became Michelle’s mom, and we said we needed to get home because Grandma was very ill. Michelle was excellent in playing her role. The fact that I’m 5”3’ and wearing flats and Michelle was 6”3’ in her 3-inch heels, and we look nothing alike, did not stop us. We still managed to pull it off. Of course, the whole office predicted I would be driving the bus to hell (Kipp said I would be a hood ornament on it), and it would be bad karma. But so far, so good.
The CBS Early Show – that’s a national news show, folks! – called and wants Mom and me to appear on a segment next Monday. Of course my mother is freaking out. It’ll be fine. I mean, we went to Ireland together and she’s still alive. I still don’t know if we’ll do it or not, but we’ll try.
I have completely and totally fallen off the “no carb” bandwagon. I need motivation. Michelle was supposed to keep me on the straight and narrow, but first thing we did was spot the bagels at the airport last week. It’s been downhill since then.

MMI Associates was contracted to handle media relations and to organize various efforts to open the communication lines between the construction entities on the project and motorists. The firm developed a strategic public relations campaign to ensure that local motorists and those passing through would be aware of the most up-to-date traffic patterns.
