Today With Patty – Sept. 15, 2006

by Patty

It’s been a wild world today, to say the least. For example, when I arrived at work today, I had coffee made by Ryal. I think Ryal has many talents, but making coffee isn’t one of them. At least not the coffee I’m used to drinking. Apparently he thought we were out of decaf. We weren’t but rather than asking and doing something about it, they decide to go ahead and add real coffee. Not a good idea.

I’m looking forward to this weekend in New York City attending a spa conference along with MMI client Erika Mangrum, president of Iatria Day Spa & Health Center. Boy, if there’s any week I could use to visit a spa, this would be it. True, I was very happy yesterday when our company won a Best Places to Work award from the Triangle Business Journal. But there have been other things stressing me out at the same time, and a visit to the Big Apple usually helps me forget about them temporarily. Speaking of my visit, I expect to have some shopping therapy while I’m there.

Here’s the latest about me on the CBS Early Show: We will tape on Monday, and rumor has it that it will air on Wednesday. I will let you know.

Day Two Without Carbs: I had a meeting this morning with Don Walston, president of Coldwell Bank Howard Perry and Walston. I really like Don. He is a wild man but he is one of my favorite people. He is smart and successful – and always fun to be around. And of course, he gets a bagel for me for our meeting. Do you know the willpower, the strength, the courage it took to not eat that bagel? Hopefully, I will stay off the carb band wagon in New York.
