This morning I taped my segment on mothers and daughters traveling together for the CBS Early Show. Hostess Rene Syler interviewed me and Peggy Northrop, editor-in-chief of More magazine. It was really fun. Peggy was great, and of course I am pitching her to put my clients in her magazine. I’ll be seen on the show Wednesday, don’t know what time yet.
I had my posse come with me to the taping – Erika Mangrum, president of Iatria Day Spa and Dr. Angela Baylis, managing partner of Iatria Health Center. Like any entourage, they both wore red T-shirts and blue jeans. We had a big limousine pick us up and take us to the studio. When we arrived there, we ate and drank coffee in the green room while waiting to do my interview.
But get this – while I’m taping, Ben Affleck, who was there to promote his movie Hollywoodland, was in the green room, and Erika and Angela got to meet him, but I didn’t! Apparently he’s a big babe. Angela was reading In Style magazine, and he told her, “That’s trash. It’ll ruin your mind.” Also, Angela and Ben’s hair stylist talked about how he should wear his hair on the show. As for me, we needed just one take to do the interview. The staff and I were thrilled about that. I had my hair and makeup done, and they used “double stick” on my shirt to make me look better. They really gave me the star treatment.
Of course, I had a great time doing other things during my weekend visit to New York. We had a little snafu with our hotel room at the Williams Club, but I was able to talk my way out of it. (When haven’t I been able to talk my way out of it?) The main reason I was there with Erika and Angela was to attend the International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference, but we managed to fit in some shopping, eating and drinking (not necessarily in that order). And who would have known it, but our very own Dr. Baylis is a dancer! She rocked out as we cruised around the Hudson River. It was a side of her we had never seen before. That girl can move! Dr. Baylis even had to adjust me in the hotel room after I fell down (it happened before I started drinking, go figure) – but now that I am a star, with my own posse, of course I would bring my own doctor.
Day Five without Carbs: I am doing my best. Let’s just leave it at that.
