Today With Patty ...

Jonathan Taylor, Regional Executive at Crescent State Bank, tells me he reads our MMI blog all of the time because he enjoys the humor. He even tells his wife about “Today With Patty.” However, JT is a banker, and … let’s just say bankers aren’t really known for their humor.

Nicole and I went to see Ray Vaughn to plan the grand opening of Crescent State Bank’s newest branch. Can’t tell you where yet, but I will keep you updated on this with more news later. Anyway, I put the top down on my car for the drive back from the bank, since it’s such a gorgeous day. Now I have had this car for two years, and putting the top down is something I do all of the time, but today for some reason I had 20 men (at least) who honked, hooted and waved at us as we drove around. Do you suppose it had anything to do with the fact that I had twenty-something, beautiful-and-blonde Nicole in my passenger seat? Me, neither.

On the way back to the office, Nicole and I were stuck at a train crossing for a really long, long train. When the train finally finished going past, we waited for the barriers to raise, but nothing happened. We waited for so long that I finally suggested (jokingly) to Nicole that she crawl up the hill and peek down the track to see what was wrong. Nicole didn’t find me humorous, either. Then a train came from the opposite direction. Another train? And me in such a hurry, anyway?

I have two crisis PR situations going on, for Pete’s sake! People like me who run around with their hair on fire for a living simply do not have the time to wait for trains, especially two trains in a row at the same crossing.

Last night, I attended a Raleigh Chamber of Commerce event that had better-than-average food. I always judge the quality of these events, you know, by the quality of the food. The only suggestion I have is that would somebody, somewhere, please, please consider serving Pinot Grigio instead of Chardonnay?
