This morning I attended the Business Leader breakfast, where MMI client Judy Smith, President of Smith Seal of North Carolina , spoke to an appreciative audience about how she has met the challenges life has thrown her way. Judy was awesome, inspiring and funny. By the way, Judy was selected Entrebizneur Of The Year by Business Leader magazine.
Jim and Barbara Goodmon, 2005 Business Leader of the Year, also spoke at the breakfast.
I had lunch with a client at Winston’s Grille, where I slipped in the rainy parking lot and suffered a bone-crushing fall, smacking my knee and re-injuring my shoulder. Wet and dirty, and dragging a mangled umbrella, I limped my way into Winston’s, where the manager felt so sorry for me that he personally brought me a free bananas foster for dessert. Yum. Despite the dessert, I had to assure the manager several times that I would not sue him because of my fall.
Tonight I will attend a kickoff meeting of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with MMI client Charlie Alexander, President of Alexa Corp , a diversified financial services company. The purpose of the kickoff is to receive orientation on the Society’s mission and information about how Charlie can become the Society’s Man of the Year. I have a strong feeling Charlie will win this distinction. He’s passionate about the Society’s mission.
