Today With Patty 8/4/06

We have been interviewing all day for writers, and saw some really good applicants. Usually there is one person who stands out, but today everyone did. It will be a hard decision.

Today is intern Rob’s last day. One thing we have learned is that Rob likes food: Circus, Subway, KFC, Firehouse, gas stations, convenience stores—- basically anything that is edible. Since he is our favorite, we gave him a care package full of cookies, candy, and other various snacks and goodies. It is about 20 pounds and it should last him all of 7 minutes. This boy can eat! We also had a cake for him. Now that he is gone, we will have significantly more food in the office.

He did bring us Godiva chocolates as a farewell gift and I know how hard it must have been to resist them. Life will not be as much fun around here without Rob.

Kate brought in cookies today. They are chocolate chip cookies with a peanut butter cup in the middle. They were rich but oh baby oh – were they good! Between Rob and Kate, we are all flying high on sugar – I hope we finish today before we crash.

We just completed our team meeting and one of the things we do is announce our success of the week. Mine was that I spent about eight hours in the office, double the usual. Of course I gain weight because all we do is eat.

By the way for all my friends who are surely going to heaven – today they are experiencing what hell must be like in Raleigh. It is 104 degrees and 96 percent humidity here. The news just announced that the power is out at my home. Can’t wait to get home to a hot house and sweaty cat. So—maybe I’m sleeping at the office tonight.
