Patty couldn’t make it to the blog today. She’s passed out, dead tired, after our long (but very productive) afternoon at Wake Tech. This is Allison, and this is my attempt to wrap it up for her.
We had the great luxury of having Patty in the office this morning, where we all pounced on her to answer our questions and figure out our “seemes.” But that didn’t last long – Patty and I headed over to Wake Tech just in time for lunch. We enjoyed sandwiches and chips from Jason’s Deli as well as an amazing chocolate chess pie, courtesy of Carole at Wake Tech. Of course, the pie was more important than the sandwich, but then again, if you read our blog often, you already knew that.
After lunch, we spent the afternoon with the communications and marketing staff at the college to provide a little education ourselves. Patty was a hit, and despite her time-crunched preparation, she sounded like the pro that she really is. She talked about public relations and what it is that we REALLY do around here, finding ways to get all the amazing things going on at Wake Tech out there, how to do interviews and news conferences, and even how to handle a crisis (it’s not just great to be prepared…it’s down right vital).
The staff was great. They were eager to learn, asked a ton of good questions, and not a single one of them went to sleep! Could it have had anything to do with the cinnamon coffee? Maybe, but we like to think that it was Patty’s expertise and enthusiasm that kept them awake.
Either way, what’s going on at Wake Tech is incredible. Kipp and I trying to figure out what classes we can take over there. (Don’t worry Daddy…I have my own paycheck now.)
