Today with Patty: Coffee, Thanksgiving Leftovers and Shopping

by Patty

One thing I forgot to mention yesterday was Ryal had Thanksgiving here at MMI. Apparently he was scheduled to go to a friend’s house but someone got sick and it had to be cancelled. So on Monday when I was asking everyone how their Thanksgiving went I heard Ryal’s sad tale of woes. He was so bummed. So of course I can not let my favorite go without Thanksgiving and I went home and brought him in several containers of Thanksgiving leftovers. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, roasted vegetables, pumpkin pie and pecan pie to name a few. There was enough for him and his fiancé to have a big dinner and celebrate the holiday, albeit somewhat belatedly. But guess what, he does not take it home and share it, he hoards it here at the office for himself. Very bad.

All Shook Up

This morning I went to the McKimmon Center at NC State to hear Sepi speak at the NCDOT Transportation Conference as she was giving the keynote. As always, Sepi did a great job but then I am prejudiced because I think she has such a compelling story. I have such a pet peeve about the McKimmon Center. I go there pretty regularly and attend various events. So why is it they are incapable of serving decaf coffee? What is that all about?

Today I get there and they have three huge containers of coffee which sure look to me like regular. Nothing labeled decaf, although some joker assured me that one of them was decaf. It wasn’t. So of course I’m sitting through the keynote, twitching and shaking from all the caffeine. It was not pretty.

Patty Loves New York

I’m getting very excited about my upcoming trip to New York on Saturday. I’m flying out early, early Saturday morning and flying back late, late Saturday evening. I’m going with a girl friend so we can shop. I can’t wait!
