Today With Patty: Imparting Wisdom

Having all of this family visiting is not all bad. For one thing I have to force myself to get out of the office each day because they expect to see me at some point. But the best part is coming home and having my dinner ready. Last night we had BBQ chicken, broccoli, green beans and a salad with a wonderful apple pie dessert. I told my husband not to get used to that as we will soon be reverting back to pretzels-and-cheese or fend-for-yourself night.

No Fun In Fundraising

I am all fundraised out! I cannot be on any more committees, events, conferences, seminars, campaigns or anything that involves raising money. People run when they see me now. All I do is grab them, turn them upside down and shake all the money out of their pockets – it is not pretty. In fact I had a fundraising meeting last night for a political event, a fundraising meeting this morning for a charity and I have another fundraising meeting at five tonight. It is a wonder I do anything income producing – oh wait, I do not – I fundraise.

Eager Young Minds

After my fundraising meeting, I am headed to UNC to impart my knowledge to students about how to break into PR. I am not their typical speaker. spend time teaching them how to shake hands, talk to them about developing writing samples, discuss what to wear in an interview and I tell them how to answer interview questions. Most of the time they are in complete shock because no one has ever taught them this very basic information. Luckily I will have Ryal with me, he will soften the blow.
