Today With Patty: John Update

by Patty

Superman is not feeling so super today because he hasn’t been taking the time to rest that he should. So, I think he is feeling a little of his immortality. But all in all, he’s doing much better.

The Breakfast That Wasn’t

It’s been a weird food day. This morning I went to a Home Builders Association breakfast at Brier Creek Country Club with about 300 other people. I’m not sure what happened, but the date for the breakfast got changed. I don’t know if Brier Creek wasn’t notified or if they were the one who didn’t write it down. So anyway, 300 of us show up for breakfast, and there is no food and what’s even worse (gasp!) — no coffee.

I was really amazed when the entire staff at Brier Creek set up the room, made the coffee (which was the most important part) and put out the cups in about 15 minutes. The board members jumped in their cars and drove over to Brier Creek Commons Shopping Center and cleared out Panera, Bruegger’s and anybody else who had food and brought it back.

Itty-Bitty Crepes

My lunch was pretty sketchy too. Normally I can never finish my entire meal when I go to a luncheon. Today, I went to the SAFEchild event at North Ridge Country Club. The lunch consisted of these teeny-tiny little crepes stuffed with chicken (what else) and white sauce, which were about the width of a highlighter, and broccoli. No starch.

I was hungry. I don’t like being hungry.

Hit On Me

I was standing there, talking to two of my girlfriends, who are both beautiful, and they were congratulating me on being named to the Board of International Affairs Council (not regular affairs mind you, but international affairs). So I commented on how I didn’t want to have an affair, but I wouldn’t mind being asked, so I could say, “No, no thank you, I am happily married.” But no one ever asks!

Of course, they proceed to tell me how they are getting hit on all the time. Oh well! At least I have a good personality.
