Today With Patty: Katie Gets Cleaned Up

by Patty

I actually left the office a little early last night and went home and did nothing for once… it was awesome. Of course, Katie came over in the afternoon to have her mandatory three-hour shower that was then followed by a bath. I keep telling her we are on water restrictions, but somehow an 18-year-olds’ bathing needs trumps what I have to say.

She was so cute when I got home as she told me that she had not had a chance to have breakfast or lunch that day because of classes. She then proceeded to eat me out of house and home. I guess that is what aunts and uncles are for.

Bosses Day Celebration

Today is Bosses Day, and my wonderful staff decorated with crepe paper and posters, as well as providing balloons and candy. As you know, any celebration at MMI involves food … I suspect I am going to have to share that candy.

Water Pipe Update

I am happy to report that the water pipe is fixed. The upstairs now has its very own bathroom and water supply.

Ryal even surprised me this morning by doing all the dishes that had piled up. He is going to be a great husband, because to my knowledge no man has ever gotten in trouble for doing the dishes.

The downstairs floor is still wrecked, and I am hoping that when the wood completely dries out we may be able to salvage it. We will get the walls and carpet repaired later in the week once I am positive that there will be no further leaking problems. The last thing I want to do is repair the drywall and wallpaper, and then have it leak again.

On The Go

I am heading out in a few minutes to see a wonderful friend of mine, Suzanne, who is in town for a quick trip. Suzanne used to head a company in North Carolina, but is now in Chicago. A bunch of us girls are going up to the Duke Inn to have dinner with her.

Then I am off to the Magnolia House to help Paige Holland Hamp launch her new Ugandan charity. Of course, I am going to need to eat twice now – I actually do not have to, but somehow I always do – it is just a gift I have.
