Today With Patty: New Heroes

I have this #%@* phone system called ESI. I do not know what ESI stands for but I have some of my own names for it that I am unable to share with you since this is a family blog. The ESI phone system does really mysterious things that make no sense. It is almost as if it gets it into its head and decides to act ornery. For the last couple of days it has decided to lose its memory and reject the use of voice mail. Then it decided it did not like the fax line and every time someone tried to fax us, all of the telephones in the office would ring. I think it had a stroke.

Anyway when the phone system had problems last year I kept trying to find somebody who could tell me what was wrong with it and I ended up going to a users group, made of mastermind phone gurus. That is where I met John Grider of Greenlight Communications is my hero. I ended up e-mailing him and throwing myself at his mercy, and after five minutes he had figured out what was wrong and fixed it. How impressive is that?

Personal Patty Trainer

I met with a personal trainer today as I am threatening to going back to exercise. I will keep you posted as to how this goes. In the past when I have had a personal trainer I have not been the best client. I am usually really good at talking the trainer out of having to do exercise and instead, take a walk and get coffee. So I need somebody strong who can stand up to me and will not take my baloney. Of course every time I think about exercising I go lay down and generally the feeling goes away.

    I really want you to follow through on working with this trainer.

    Here is the message I send myself about working out: For every hour I work out, I add a day to my life. Now, you’re a business person, Patty, so you should immediately see the ROI on this. Why would you NOT invest 1 hour to gain 24?

    I’m going to be asking you about this at our WPO meetings, and I’m going to get all the other WPO members to bug you about it as well. We are going to work with you to get in shape by swimsuit season!
