I’m back from vacation! I spent a very restful week up in Minnesota near the Canadian border. No phone, no Internet, just lots of napping, reading and drinking of scotch. And I fished. I did actually catch one fish mighty easily. I caught another one, but it broke the pole. Of course, being in PR, I know the value placed on “the fish that got away” stories, so I won’t go into detail about that.
All right, I admit it, I fell off the “no carb” diet. S’mores did it to me. We had bonfires at night and saw beautiful views – the northern lights, the Milky Way. Combine that with s’mores and scotch, and what more could you want? I have every intent of going back on the “no carb” diet, but I haven’t quite embraced it yet. You’re so hungry for the first three days, you can’t get enough food, and when you compare that to eating s’mores and drinking scotch, well … there is no comparison. I’ll let you know when I get back on the diet band wagon.
Back here in the office, I’m trying to catch up on work, and it just wipes away all the fun of vacation when there’s so much to do. Well, not all the fun. Today is “hat day” here, with the guys wearing their “tractor caps” (Kipp and Allison calls them “trucker hats,” which is odd since the two of them rarely agree on anything), and us ladies sporting cowboy hats. They are left over from an event that dare not speak its name. Everyone missed me terribly – or so they say. Oh, can’t forget we have a new refrigerator/freezer here. Take that, Jim Tobin!
I am convinced that either no one can do the brakes for my Chrysler Sebring or else my husband is trying to kill me. Maybe it’s both. I’ve spent $1,500 on brakes for my car and they still keep going out. It’s forced me to drive that piece of junk Jeepster I’ve been on my husband to sell for two years. I guess I shouldn’t criticize it too much – the vehicle has been driven by so many people who work here for various events, it’s like the “family car.” But it cost me $50 to fill it up today! Guess summer vacation really is over for me.
