Today With Patty: She’s baaack!

by Patty

I have not blogged in quite a while because I have been traveling. This last trip, I went to Tulsa to speak at the 17th Annual Women’s Business Leadership Program about personal branding. I have to admit I was pretty nervous to speak in front of ninety people and it was rather intimidating to see my Barbie-doll figure plastered all around the room on the big screens. Luckily, I was the first speaker of the day so they really had no one to compare me to. I even made the front page of the business section for the Tulsa paper.

House Hunting

From there we headed to Grove, Oklahoma, where we are looking for a vacation home which we will ultimately retire to at some point. Please – no crap – everyone keeps saying, “Oklahoma??” I neglected to bring a coat and it was freezing. We even had a few snow flurries. I am a loser. So for the next three and a-half days we looked at every house on the market and found one that we liked. We are working with Martha Petty of Century 21 Waterfront= who is new to the real estate business but has a genuine enthusiasm and work ethic that I believe will make her a success. We definitely bonded with Martha.

Today we are going to make an offer on a stone and timber house in Apache Coves, which is a beautiful gated community on Grand Lake. I think the developer, Tom Word, has really put a lot of care and thought into developing what I believe is the premier community on Grand Lake – - – and trust me I looked at everyone of them. I will keep you posted if we get this house and if so I will put up some pictures. Of course if it happens, my new mantra will be: The Briguglio’s are in the poor house. I will have to severely curtail shopping, traveling and all those fun things that you do with discretionary income.

Late For Lunch

Today I went to the Business Champions lunch where several MMI clients were honored including Greene Resources, BJAC, Coldwell Banker Howard Perry and Walston and Smith Seal of NC. Of course I had the time wrong in my calendar and I arrived late, so lunch consisted of a warm salad and cake. There were no entrees for me.

Going Red And Going To Bed

This afternoon I am off to the Governor’s Mansion for the Go Red for Women kick-off reception. I have several other events I should be attending this evening, however, I believe that I am starting to come down with the fierce flu that has feld our entire office. I thought I had dodged the bullet, but apparently not. So my plans for this evening involve a brandy snifter of Nyquil and bed.
