Today With Patty: Some Good And Some Bad

by Patty

I want to complain about a lot of things today. And since it is cold, and kind of raw out, it is a good time to do so. Last week I was in Orlando for the Coldwell Banker National Conference. Our local Coldwell Banker, the Howard Perry Walston office, won a boatload of awards. That is good news.

The bad news is that I got food poisoning from the Gaylord Palms Hotel Restaurant which meant that I missed the awards dinner and the big party afterwards. I would have rather had a root canal than get food poisoning.

And If That Wasn’t Rough Enough…

The other thing about my trip is that somebody needs to do something about the security at Orlando airport. It is a big free-for-all where you stand in the line forever, and they funnel you through and then all the lines mix up and they have to sort you out again. It is just a big mess. I have an idea. The Orlando people ought to go talk to Disney World and get their help since they are the best people-movers I have ever seen.

Not-So Happy Hour

I also want to complain about Maggiano’s I went there late yesterday to meet a client for a drink. It was 4:30, and there were very few people in the restaurant. I sat in the bar area and waited for someone who could take my order. Apparently they are not into that. I even asked a woman who appeared to be the manager if she could get someone to take our order. She explained that they were too busy and I would need to go up to the bar to place my order. Well isn’t that nice.

Of course I had to wait because the bartender and her friend must have been having a very important conversation and could not be bothered to allow me to interrupt them.
With the economy the way it is, you would think that Maggiano’s might pay a bit more attention to customer service. It appears that their motto is, “If it were not for all these patrons, I could get so much work done.” Ok enough complaining for today.
