Yesterday, if you can recall, I was running out the door to go to The Umstead for the Triangle Tea Society. I have not always been 100 percent in love with The Umstead but all is forgiven now. The Umstead is now my new favorite place. Why, you ask? Because of their amazing customer service. As you may recall, I have had a hiccup or two in the past regarding cold pinot grigio, but not yesterday. Patrick, the handsome and debonair head of food and beverage saw me walk into the tea room and immediately came over with an ice cold glass of pinot grigio. Now that is service. And that is pretty impressive.
Here is the bad news, since I am off alcohol, I could not drink it. Luckily, my dear friend Virginia Parker took one for the team and did not let it go to waste. By the way, the food and service at Afternoon Tea was phenomenal. I never think of myself much as a tea and scones kind of girl but I really enjoy these events, there are always so many interesting women.
Olive Garden Salad
Today we are having Olive Garden for lunch and Jill & Kate just walked in with huge bags of Olive Garden that smell amazing. I am looking forward to the salad but I am quite sad that there are no bread sticks in my future.
Ice Cream Tea Party
I am gearing myself up for this evening when Erika Mangrum’s little girl is coming over to spend the night. We have quite the evening planned including a tea party. Her tea cup will have ice cream in it and unfortunately, mine will not. Then we will watch a movie and I am leaning towards Pollyanna because I did love Hailey Mills when I was a little girl. And of course we will go down to the pond to feed the ducks. As always, I have no doubt she will end up in the bed with us even though she likes to spend a good half-hour getting her bedroom all fitted out. Then she abandons it and climbs in with us – of course she is all elbows and knees. She will arrive with probably three suitcases for one night. And then tomorrow morning, we will make pancakes together which I will not be allowed to eat.
I love having my very own seven year old. She is so much fun.
