Today With Patty: We Got Food

by Patty

Bill Turner of dbusinessnews called me today and wanted to know how come we are always talking about food on the MMI blog. I had to explain to him that food is an integral part of life at MMI, and by all that is holy, it has a place of reverence in our company.

As a matter of fact, today we are dining on watermelon that Kipp brought in, and don’t you know, the counter is all sticky because people have been spitting out their seeds and dripping on it. I supplied fresh figs from my neighbor Tony. So many of the MMI staff had never tasted a fresh fig, so it was a treat to introduce them to this amazing fruit. Kipp is planning some special fig dessert tonight that he will probably tell you about tomorrow.

Lack of Food

We have two kitchens here at MMI, and in the upstairs one, I keep an emergency stash of food for when I forget lunch and do not have time to go out or when I am working late. The only problem is Ryal knows about this, and he figures anything after a certain period of time (of which only he knows the magical number) is when that food is available to him.

So yesterday I did not get a chance to get lunch. I was hungry and rooting around for food, and I could not find any because Ryal has eaten it all. I remembered my tried-and-true fallback, chicken noodle soup. But NOOOOOOOOO! Ryal has eaten that too – both cans! He always gives me that puppy dog look when I bust him.

Last Night’s Dinner

OK, you heard it here first – I was wrong. Katie made an amazing dinner last night and cleaned up the mess. I got home, it was all cleaned up and ready to go. Turns out she is quite the little sous-chef, slicing and dicing all the accompaniments to the tacos. So now how do I get Katie to do this every night?
