What a day! Today has been full of fun, surprises and even a little champagne. I received the Woman Extraordinaire award at the North Ridge Country Club: from Business Leader Magazine. I have to tell you I was in pretty heady company and was more than a little humbled to be around such an amazing group of women including Wendy Coulter, Ann Denlinger, Heather Denny, Maureen Hartford, Debbie Houston, Lou Jukowski, Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue, Bernadette Spong and Vera Simms.
Hair & Makeup
I went this morning to get my hair and makeup done. I headed over to Haircolorxperts, and for the first time ever the gal that does my hair was running late. Normally it would not have been a big deal but I was totally stressing because I had to be at Iatria to get my makeup done. It all worked out in the end though.
Surprise Limo Ride
I got to Iatria and Erika Mangrum met me there. We were talking about what the best route to North Ridge County Club was and Erika was kind of pushing me around and hurrying me along. I could not figure out what was going on and kept telling her we had plenty of time.
Then we walked outside and there was the longest stretch black limo I’ve ever seen with Sheila Ahlers standing at the door in her long black mink coat. I was more than surprised – speechless in fact.
As I go to look into the limo, I see a big group of my girlfriends and my husband John. I have the coolest girlfriends. Sheila Ahlers put the whole thing together and there was Sheila Ogle, Jennifer Terry, Erika Mangrum, Lana Calloway, Virginia Parker and Linda Shields.
There were presents (including a Galapagos DVD that had everyone in the limo barking like a seal instead of clapping) and champagne. Virginia Parker from Paragon Bank told the funniest story ever, that I cannot repeat here, and it had the entire limo in stitches. Who knew that she was such a great storyteller?
We just had the best time – ever. I cannot believe how many wonderful friends I have and how blessed I am.
The Best Day Ever
The luncheon was amazing and I had a great time with my dear friend Lt. Gov. Beverly Perdue. So many of my friends came to support me, and all in all it has just been the best day ever. Can we do this again tomorrow?
