As what seems to be the typical pattern lately whenever Patty flies out of North Carolina, the weather around here has gone nuts. After a decent amount of rainfall on and off yesterday, we are left today with winds gusting up to 40 mph that are blowing leaves and tree limbs on the ground and knocking out power lines to some parts of the Triangle (we have had some power surges at the office, but no outages yet, this we say with our fingers crossed).
Patty’s flight to Phoenix yesterday proved to be pretty eventful itself for her, judging by the message she left us on voicemail. “It was the most miserable airplane ride I have had in a long time,” she said. One was that she flew in a plane filled with students from the Elon University communications department, and she said they were rude and loud and showed no sensitivity to other passengers. In particular, there were two women sitting behind Patty who “screamed at the top of their lungs,” as she put it, while they spent an hour and a half discussing makeup, mostly eye makeup, if you must know. This situation prompted Patty to let us tell you that if you are one of those students on the plane from Elon University and you are looking for a job with her, do not expect to receive any help from her.
To add to her fun, Patty encountered a man seated next to her that she said hogged the entire armrest, then fell asleep and leaned on her while snoring. “What a miserable five hours!” she said of her flight. We cannot say we blame her for feeling that way.
The good news is that Patty is safely in Arizona with her family and clients today. Patty will be joined by Michelle when she flies out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport tomorrow to attend the Women Presidents’ Organization conference. We wish them both luck.
As for the rest of us back here at the office, we are hoping that the winds will die down by Wednesday as predicted. Of course, by then the forecast calls for rain that day rather than sun, and when we finally do get to see the sun by the end of the week, temperatures are still supposed to be some 10-15 degrees lower than normal. Whatever happened to the sunny days in the 80s we experienced here just two weeks ago? Guess we will not have them until Patty gets back next week (sigh).
