Today Without Patty – Jan. 19, 2007

by Patty

For the third Friday in a row in January, Patty is not able to do her daily blog, so we at the office receive that honor instead. This time her reason for not doing so is that she and John have headed down to Charleston for the weekend, which of course prompted no envy whatsoever from the staff, as you can imagine. While they are gone, Ryal is going to house sit and take care of their cat, Katie Scarlet. Patty joked that Katie Scarlet will have a catnip kegger while she is gone. With Ryal in charge of her place, a catnip kegger might be the least of Patty’s worries.

Kate has been having a nice day, thanks to having a great time this morning at the January meeting of the Northwestern Mutual Financial Network Breakfast Club of the Triangle, the local chapter of the national membership-driven business organization Breakfast Club of America, as well as an MMI client. This gathering featured Peter Laviolette, coach of the Carolina Hurricanes, as keynote speaker, and the meeting was held in the RBC Center’s Arena Club. Again, this of course prompted no envy from the rest of the staff.

We have now reached our full complement of interns for the next few weeks, and Allison, our intern liaison, says that they are doing well in helping us meet our clients’ needs. And despite how Patty likes to say that all our interns are blondes, we in fact have a guy with us right now, Kevonte, who gets to work upstairs with Patty and the boys (Kipp, Ryal and Wesley) Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. OK, it is only one guy out of five interns, but that is better than we have had here for a long time.

Patty will be back in the office Monday, even if we have another messy morning as we did yesterday that caused some of us to arrive later than usual. Actually, the latest weather report for Raleigh calls for a wintry mix Sunday but temperatures into the 50s by Monday, so we should have no problems getting here on time and not have to sleep late – darn it.
