Today Without Patty – Nov. 20, 2006

by Patty

While Patty is on her way back home today from her nephew’s weekend wedding in Phoenix, we here in the office have been working on several projects we want or need to finish before the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday. One that Kate has handled is putting together a care package for a soldier in Iraq named Matt, who is the boyfriend of one of our interns. Everyone in the office has contributed nonperishable items for this worthy effort, from StarKist tuna to Pop-Tarts. Kate will provide more information on the care package in her blog this week.

Nicole came back from serving as bridesmaid to her friend’s wedding in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and said it was nice. Ryal said the same thing about his weekend trip to Washington, D.C..

Speaking of the weekend, there was some concern by us about a sinkhole that opened Friday in the eastern lanes on Interstate 40 near Garner could have caused some serious transportation headaches for some of us, but the North Carolina Department of Transportation worked overtime to correct it by this morning, so it looks like the only problem we will face will be the usual snarls caused by too many people leaving at the same time. For the rest of you reading this, we hope your travels home to family and friends for Thanksgiving will be a safe and pleasant one as well.
