Somehow we have neglected to tell you that while Patty continues the last half of her two-week trip to the Galapagos Islands, our own Kristi has been taking care of her cat. She said it has been going fine except for the fact that her boyfriend, Matt (as opposed to the Matt who works here), is allergic to cats but still likes to play with them. That means that Matt sneezes whenever he is with Patty’s pet, and that understandably scares her. Relax, baby – Mama will be home soon.
Tee Time
MMI Matt said he really enjoyed playing golf at Falls Village Sunday, just as he predicted he would in this blog on Friday. It took nearly five hours for him and his buddies to complete a round in the hot afternoon sun, however, so he is a little bit tired today.
Boone Still Booming About Michigan Win
Kate went to Boone this weekend and saw T-shirts on sale that made light of Appalachian State University’s recent surprise win over Michigan in college football. One of them said, “Where’s Ann Arbor? Betcha know where Boone is now!” She wanted to buy one, but unfortunately the stores selling them were closed when she arrived. But she plans to order one, and maybe she will have a picture of one in her blog once she receives it.
Wesley Got a Haircut
To the relief of everyone in the office including himself, Wesley finally had his hair trimmed this weekend as well as highlighted. He says the highlights are autumnal ones, meaning yellowish brown and burnt sienna in his vocabulary. Whatever. The rest of us are taking bets as to how long it will last before he brushes it a different way.
Cheesecake Factory Fever
A lot of us like to go out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory sometimes, maybe even once a week. Our love for it here does not extend to doing it two days in a row, though. Yet that is what our own intern Heather faced this weekend. You see, her boyfriend came to town and wanted to eat at the one at the Streets of Southpoint because the restaurant does not have a location in his native Greensboro. Fine, only the next night she joined her girlfriends, and all they wanted to do was eat there too. She decided to pick the grilled cheese sandwich, of all things, for her second visit, and to her surprise it was the best grilled cheese sandwich she had ever tasted, not to mention one of the biggest. “It was the size of my face,” she said. Take it from us, Heather has anything but a big head, but that still sounds impressive.
And Then There’s Ryal …
When you are into a sport like rollerblading, why not encourage your fiancée to share your passion for it too? That was the thinking going through Ryal’s head when he took Nicole to Play It Again Sports and bought some new K2s on sale for $89 (regular price is $120). Nicole then joined Ryal on her first rollerblading experience, where she had trouble with hills and stopping. As Ryal pithily noted, those two things kind of go together.
So there you have our weekend highlights. Everything else has been business as usual today, meaning busy but not unbearable. Hope your weekend went well too, and we will talk again with you tomorrow.
