Today Without Patty: Guess Who Is Coming Back

by Patty

Remember Patty Briguglio, the woman who used to write these entries up until about two weeks ago? Yeah? Well, good news – she flying back from the Galapagos Islands today and should be flying into Raleigh-Durham International Airport by late afternoon or early evening. This means she will have plenty to tell us all about her trip in this column tomorrow, assuming she is not totally wiped out by the trip.

While we wait for her return, the rest of us have been busy as usual, with several of us planning for some major activities this weekend. Here are a couple of them.

Speaking Of Women’s Health

At least half the office, including Kristi, who will be handling publicity for the affair, will be attending Saturday’s portion of this year’s big Speaking of Women’s Health Conference at the North Raleigh Hilton. This two-day event (it starts tomorrow) is designed to influence women in making informed decisions about their health, well-being and personal safety. Kate, Jill, Jennifer and even Matt (good for him – no one said men were not invited) plan to be there for the daylong series of speeches and activities, and probably Patty too if she has recuperated from her flights.

By the way, Kristi is going to be busy for MMI again next weekend, as she along with Kate will be overseeing the Family Fun Day at the Old Fields residential development in Alamance County on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

Me Fine Purse Gala

Jill and Allison (and again, probably Patty) will take part in the 2nd Annual Southern Ladies Purse Gala on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Cary to benefit the Me Fine Foundation, which provides assistance for children and families at Duke Children’s Hospital and the North Carolina Children’s Hospital at UNC. They will be enjoying a live auction of unique, one-of-a-kind purses, including items donated by local celebrities and designers nationwide, as well as wine and hors d’oeuvres. Jill for one said she is looking forward to the event and, on an unrelated note, wanted to let everyone know that our newest intern, Semonna, is amazing.

The rest of us have no big plans to announce for the weekend as it stands now. As for tomorrow, like we said, we expect Patty to be back in the office, but she will have so much to catch up in her work that she may not have time to do an entry, in which case we will do it instead. So to be safe, let us just say goodbye but not so long and farewell to you as we close this installment.
