What is your definition of a treat?

by Susan

It all began Friday afternoon when a co-worker suggested Maggie Moos. I can’t think of a better way to end a week than a great ice cream treat. Mind you , I said a treat. Merriam Webster says a treat is “an especially unexpected source of joy, delight, or amusement”. When you think of ice cream – do you not expect it to be delightful or a source of joy for the stomach?

I was led to believe as a child that a treat was something that was special and did not occur often. As an adult I treat myself often. It started with MaggieMoos on Friday which led to an incredible breakfast of eggs, bacon, fresh fruit and biscuits at Big Ed’s.
Not only did I treat myself to breakfast , I went as far as having a sweet treat at breakfast (not that I was still hungry). I had my first pancake at Big Ed’s. I have never had such a light and fluffy pancake in my life , and it had a wonderful vanilla flavor.

You would think that at this point I had had enough treats. That was not true for me. I had this undying need to round out my weekend of treats with just one more. Off to Cold Stone Creamery I went for a to -die – for “Signature Creation” Peanut Butter Cup Perfection made with Sweet Cream ice cream. I do try not to go overboard with my treats , so I limited myself to the “like it” size. Am I overdoing it on treats?
