NEW YORK – The Women Presidents’ Organization and Entrepreneur Magazine are partnering in a search for the Top 50 fastest-growing women-owned/women-led privately-owned businesses throughout the United States and Canada. The deadline for applications is August 5, 2007 and the list will be published in the November issue of Entrepreneur Magazine. The Top 50 will be honored at a party on December 3rd, in New York City.
The WPO is a nonprofit membership organization for a diverse group of women presidents who have guided their businesses to at least $2 million in gross annual sales or $1 million for a service-based business. With over 1,100 members and 71 chapters located throughout the nation and in Canada, the WPO has experienced rapid growth since its inception. Local WPO chapters are coordinated by a professional facilitator and meet monthly to share business expertise and experience in a confidential and collaborative setting. This year is the organization’s 10th anniversary.
“According to the Center for Women’s Business Research, women-owned firms are growing at around two times the rate of all firms and having a tremendous economic impact. We are very excited and proud to partner with Entrepreneur Magazine to recognize those firms that are experiencing the fastest-growth,” said Marsha Firestone, Ph.D., president & founder of the WPO.
“Entrepreneur has long been an advocate for women-owned businesses and we are delighted to be teaming up with the WPO to publish this list. The WPO itself is a great example of entrepreneurial role models for women. By publishing the Top 50 women-owned businesses in America, many more people will be exposed to the dynamism of women entrepreneurs,” said Rieva Lesonsky, SVP/Editorial Director, Entrepreneur Media.
