Does your lifelong dream include working for your favorite sports team? How about the NHL? Well, lucky for you, you may be able to pay your way to the career of your dreams.
The National Hockey League Fan Association (NHLFA) recently held an online auction that allowed fans to bid on the opportunity to become a public relations assistant for last month’s NHL All Star Game Weekend. The winners assisted the NHL’s public relations department to help players fulfill media obligations during the event. They also got some exclusive hockey gear and a backstage pass to the event’s production offices.
The auction shined a new spotlight on the NHL, promoting both the professional league’s nonprofit efforts and their All Star Game Weekend – attention that is much needed to boost fan attendance during a slowing season. The final bids totaled $7,000, with half of the proceeds going to Hockey Fights Cancer. It may seem like a hefty sum of money, but for hardcore hockey fans, it was a steal.
So, save your pennies and keep an eye on your piggy bank. Who knows, your dream may come true too – for the right price.
